Pharmacist (Relief)


This Relief Pharmacist position oversees the prescription and verbal entry by pharmacy technicians in relation to veterinary mail order dispensing on an e-commerce platform. There are various flexible shifts. The role is responsible for safe and efficient methods for coordination of established pharmacy policy concerning drug patient care (pet) and provides clinical drug information to meet the needs of the patient (pet), the veterinarian and all other appropriate support personnel. They will also support the company mission, vision and values.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Veterinary Compounding experience preferred.
  • Experience with PCAB accreditation preferred.
  • Position requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in pharmacy and a current Kansas pharmacy license in good standing.
  • Reviews and interprets vets orders for appropriateness relevant to, to ensure that overdoses or under-doses have not been prescribed and that interactions, incompatibilities or toxic compounds will not result from combination of medications.
  • Dispenses prescriptions to pets in accordance with policy and in conformance with regulations and laws dealing with the class of prescription; counsels patients (pet owners) about their medications and maintains an accurate, up to date profile.
  • Maintains necessary controls with respect to audited controlled drugs and alcohol; prepares controlled drug request for delivery by technician.
  • Participates in in-service education programs when requested.
  • Verifies the work performed by support personnel, which includes pet drug data entry, cassette filling and unit-dose drug distribution.
  • Maintains up to date knowledge of the profession by participating in organization memberships; by attending meetings, lectures, in service and seminars; by reading journals; and by complying with National Standards of Continuing Education to maintain professional competency and proficiency.
  • Participates in clinical programs instituted in the department such as drug-level monitoring, antibiotic monitoring and consults.
  • Participates in special studies as requested.
  • Ensures that the quality of the professional services is maintained.



  • Must have 6 – 12 months of experience
  • Doctor of Pharmacy Degree or BS Degree in Pharmacy


  • Must be a Licensed Registered Pharmacist in good standing with the state of Kansas, Nebraska, and other states as required.
  • Experience with veterinary products preferred

  • Communication- ability to communicate verbally in a professional manner with co-workers.
  • Dependability- exhibit punctuality and low absenteeism.

  • Normal office environment with extensive use of computer.
  • Must be able to reach overhead, climb ladders or stairs, lift/carry or push/pull heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.).  Must have the energy and physical stamina to move freely about, and be able to sit or stand for long periods of time (up to 2 hours).
